This book is incredible, amazing, and a lot of other positive adjectives!!!  Imagine elements of Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and The Prestige all combined into one amazing novel!  My cousin said it’s primarily description with less dialogue and that’s one reason I love it.  The descriptions are beautiful and really take you into the story.

The Night Circus tells the story of two magicians who are entered into a duel.  That’s all you need to know.  The front flap tells way too much information in my opinion and I think that is all anyone needs to know about the plot.

The book is told from three perspectives.  First, you have the story told from a second-person point of view.  You are witnessing the Night Circus as it unfolds around you.  This was my favorite point of view because as a reader, you were part of the story.  The next point of view was third person and told how the circus started and what it was like to be one of the talented individuals within the circus.  Finally, there is another third person point of view that focuses on Bailey, a young child whose experience of the Night Circus becomes important later on in the story.  Each chapter jumped around not only by what perspective the story was told from but also jumped around in time- back and forth.  I LOVED it that way!!!

First favorite books: Harry Potter
Second favorite book: The Night Circus
